If PlayOn is where your schedule lives, you can still get it into AutoCreate; it just takes one extra step today using a free Google Calendar as a bridge. Once it's set up, updating your Gipper feed is a quick re-upload each time your schedule changes.

How It Works
PlayOn doesn't currently offer a direct, always-up-to-date calendar link (the kind you can paste once and forget about) on either the admin side or the public-facing side of a PlayOn athletics site. What it does offer, on the public side of your site, is a per-sport calendar file you can download. The workaround below turns that file into a live link Gipper can read, using a free Google Calendar as the bridge.
If You Use Another Schedule Platform Integrated with Play On
If your school also uses another platform (like DragonFly) for scheduling and it feeds your PlayOn site (a common setup), connect AutoCreate to the other platform directly instead. It's a live link with no manual re-upload required.
Copy Your iCal Link from Play On
Download Your Schedule from Play On
- Go to your school's public PlayOn athletics website (not the admin login).
- Find the Add to Calendar option, usually near a schedule or event listing.
- You'll see three choices: Apple, Google, and Other. Choose Google or Other, either one downloads a calendar file (a .ics file) rather than opening a link.
- Repeat this for each sport you want included. PlayOn generates these per sport, not as a single all-athletics file, so you'll end up with one .ics file per team.
Create a Bridge in Google
- In Google Calendar, create a new calendar dedicated to this feed (for example, "Athletics AutoCreate Feed"). Using a dedicated calendar keeps your personal events separate.
- Go to Settings > Import & Export > Import.
- Upload each .ics file you downloaded from PlayOn, one at a time, selecting your new dedicated calendar as the destination each time.
- Once everything is imported, go to Settings for my calendars, select your dedicated calendar, and find Integrate calendar. Copy the Secret address in iCal format. This is the link you'll give Gipper.
Add the Link to Gipper
- In Gipper, click AutoCreate in the left sidebar, then open the Calendars tab.
- Click Add iCal under Personal (visible just to you) or Workspace (visible to everyone in your Workspace; Admins only).
- Name your calendar (for example, "Varsity Basketball"), paste your VNN link, and click Continue.
- Preview your events, then click Add events.
That's it! Your VNN schedule now lives in AutoCreate. For the full walkthrough, see our article on How to Connect Your Schedule to Gipper with an iCal Link.
Keeping it Updated
This is the one tradeoff of the workaround: your Google bridge calendar doesn't automatically stay in sync with PlayOn. Whenever your PlayOn schedule changes, you'll need to re-download the updated .ics file and re-import it.
Important Note: Whenever a game changes in PlayOn, download the updated .ics file and import it into the same Google Calendar again.
Gipper reads live from that Google Calendar, so as soon as you re-import, your AutoCreate feed updates too; no need to touch Gipper itself.
If you skip a re-import after a schedule change, your Gipper feed will show outdated information until you catch it up.
