How It Works
An iCal link is a live feed of a calendar. Most athletic scheduling platforms and school website providers can generate one for your schedule. You paste that link into Gipper once, and AutoCreate imports every event on the calendar (titles, dates, times, and locations) and keeps everything up to date on its own as your schedule changes. Setup takes just a few minutes, and you never type event details by hand again.
iCal links usually end in .ics and may start with https:// or webcal://.
Personal vs. Workspace Calendars
Personal calendars are only visible to you. Anyone in the Workspace can add their own personal calendars.
Workspace calendars are visible to every user in the Workspace. Only Workspace Admins can add these. Connecting your school's master athletics feed as a Workspace calendar is a great way to give your whole team access to the same schedule.
Find Your iCal URL
The way to get your link depends on where your schedule lives. We have a step-by-step guide for each platform:
- Arbiter
- BigTeams
- Bound
- DragonFly
- Eventlink
- Finalsite
- Home Campus
- Mascot Media
- PrestoSports
- Rank One
- Schedule Galaxy
- SIDEARM Sports
- SportsEngine
- VNN
Don't see your platform? Any calendar that offers an iCal, "Subscribe," or calendar feed link will work, including Google Calendar and Outlook. If you get stuck, our support team is happy to help you track down your link.
Add the Link to Gipper
Once you have your iCal link copied:
- In Gipper, click AutoCreate in the left sidebar (under the Create section), then open the Calendars tab.
- Click Add iCal under Personal or Workspace. Personal calendars are visible just to you, and anyone can add them. Workspace calendars are visible to everyone in your Workspace, and only Admins can add them.
- Name your calendar. This is how it appears in your calendar list and filters, so pick something clear like "Varsity Football" or "All Athletics."
- Paste your iCal link into the URL field and click Continue.
- Gipper fetches your calendar and shows a preview of every event it found. Take a moment to confirm the events look right.
- Click Add events.
That's it! Your events now appear in the Events tab, and Gipper keeps them synced automatically. For a tour of the Events tab, see our article on Getting Started with AutoCreate.

Troubleshooting
"The iCal URL you entered is not valid"
Double-check that you copied the full link from your scheduling platform. The link should be a calendar feed (usually ending in .ics), not a regular webpage address. Try copying it again from the source.
"This iCal is already connected"
This calendar is already synced to your personal calendars or your Workspace, so there's nothing more to do. Check the Calendars tab to find it.
Events look off or are missing
Click Refresh calendar next to the calendar in the Calendars tab to pull a fresh sync. For more, see our article on Managing Your AutoCreate Calendars.
No events are showing up after you connect your calendar
Open the link you added and paste it into a new browser tab. It should download or open a calendar file, not a webpage or a login screen. If it opens a webpage, you likely copied the wrong link, go back to your schedule platform and grab the iCal or subscribe link instead.
Check that the source calendar actually has upcoming events on it. An empty source calendar means there's nothing for Gipper to pull in yet.
Give it a few minutes. A newly connected calendar can take a short time to bring in its first batch of events.
