What Does This Error Mean?
When uploading a PDF to Gipper, you may see an error notification that says certain images in your file are unsupported.
This happens because some PDFs contain images saved in an older format like JPEG-2000. These older image formats are not supported by modern web browsers, which means Gipper cannot display those images after upload.
This is most common with older documents like yearbook PDFs or archival files that were originally created many years ago.
The good news? The fix is quick and easy. You just need to save an optimized version of your PDF that converts those older images into a supported format.
How to Fix Your PDF Using Adobe Acrobat
Follow these steps to create an optimized version of your PDF using Adobe Acrobat:
1. Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat.
2. Go to File > Save As Other > Optimized PDF.
3. In the optimization window, set the following options:
- Set Make compatible with to Acrobat 10.0 and later.
- Under the images section, set the following for all images:
- Downsampling: Off
- Compression: JPEG
- Quality: Maximum
- Make sure the checkbox for Optimize images only if there is a reduction in size is deselected (unchecked).
4. Click OK.
5. Save the new optimized file to your computer.
6. Go back to Gipper and upload the newly saved PDF.
Your file should now upload successfully with all images intact. It's that simple!
