Prepping your LG Touchscreen
There are a few steps you need to take on the LG Touchscreen to disable some of it's native functionality and to ensure exclusive interaction with your Gipper Touch Site through the Elo backpack/mini computer. If you run into any issues or questions throughout this process, please reach out to support@gogipper.com right away and our team will be able to assist.
To prepare your LG Touchscreen, complete the three steps below:
Initial Setup
- Power on the touchscreen. You should see the below screen:
- Click the Start button in the lower right corner, followed by the Setup Offline button in the lower right corner
- Input your Date and Time and click Next
- Disable (toggle off) all Google services and click Accept
- When prompted to set a pin, select the Skip option in the lower right corner and confirm this
- Choose Traditional Navigation, the top option
- Select your country and accept the terms of use. This should then send you to the Android home page (shown below)
Adjust LG Settings
- Now that you're at the Android home mode, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the menu and select the gear/settings icon at the bottom of the screen. It should look like this:
- On the left side select Administrator, followed by Enable Administrator
- At this point, set a password that you'll remember and write it down in an easily accessible spot
- Note: feel free to send along your password to Gipper so we can make note of it in our system in case you forget it or lose where you made note of it!
- Next, click on Startup & Shutdown
- Disable (toggle off) Auto Power Off
Note: to get out of the menu/settings, you can use the back button on the LG remote
Disabling Wifi Icon
- When on the Android home mode, select the Wifi icon at the top of the screen (shown below)
- Click View the main interface
- Agree to the following pop-up agreements
- Click on the Menu button in the lower left corner, followed by Settings
- Scroll on the touchscreen until you see Floating Window Size, select the drop-down, and change it from Normal Size to Close
Disable Side Bars and Other Settings in Debug Menu
Accessing the Debug Menu will be different depending on what model of LG touchscreen you have. Please follow the correct instructions based on your model.

Accessing the Debug Menu on the 55" LG 55TR3DQ-B or 65" LG 65TR3DQ-B: 1. Open the LG Factory Menu (show below) by pressing the Input button followed by 1, 3, 7, 9 quickly on the LG remote.
2. Once the Factory Menu is open, click the blue "Factory Mode" in the top right corner 3. This will prompt you to enter a password - enter 857340 4. Then, switch to Common Mode Once completed, follow steps below. |
|
Accessing the Debug Menu on the 55" LG 55TR3DK-B, 65" LG 65TR3DK-B, 75" LG 75TR3DK-B, or 86" 86TR3DK-B 1. Open the LG Debug Menu (shown below) by pressing the Input button followed by 1, 3, 7, 9 quickly on the LG remote
Once completed, follow steps below. |

Consider Covering Front-Facing Ports
As an optional precaution, we'd highly recommend covering the ports in the lower right corner of the touchscreen. The Channel Auto-Switch setting will disable the input or source from being changed without the remote or physical menu button.
We also highly recommend cover the front-facing power button. Your IT department may have a suggestion, but we have recommendations. Please reach out to support@gogipper.com for the recommendation.
Plugging in your Elo Backpack to the LG Touchscreen
Once you've gone through the above steps to prep your LG Touchscreen, you can move on to setting up your Elo Backpack.
To set up your Elo device and touchscreen experience:
- Plug your Elo backpack into a wall outlet and connect your Elo backpack to the ports on the back of the touchscreen using an HDMI cord (rated 2.0 or higher) and a touch cord (USB A to B)
- Click the power button on your Elo Backpack to power on the device and touchscreen
- Note: if the input on the LG screen does not automatically change, you can use the input button on the LG remote to change it to HDMI1 (or whichever HDMI port you're plugged into)
- If you have not plugged in an ethernet cable you will be prompted to set up wifi. At this stage, connect to your organization's best wifi network
- You should then get to the below "three options" screen. At this point, PAUSE and send an email to Gipper Support using the details in step 5
- Email support@gogipper.com with the below message and details (feel free to copy and paste). Please use the exact subject line:
SUBJECT:
[ORG NAME] - Elo Ready for Setup
BODY OF EMAIL:
Hi,
This is [NAME] with [ORG NAME].
We’ve gone through the necessary Elo setup steps and are currently on the three options Elo screen. We are ready to move forward.
- The Gipper team will then work directly with Elo to ensure your device has the latest software and is properly connected to the Gipper account. During this process, we may follow up with you to ask you to perform additional steps to help ensure your device is configured properly. Please do not take any further actions until you hear from us.
Sharing a Photo of your Touchscreen Setup
After all directions have been followed and your site has been deployed to the screen, please send a photo of your setup to support@gogipper.com for the Gipper team to review (if you already have an existing email thread with a Gipper Customer Success rep you can also send the photo there).
- Note: please still send a photo even if you're waiting on other features (wall wraps, shelves, graphics, etc.) in the surrounding area to be completed. We certainly want to see the final product when it's ready, but at this stage we primarily want to confirm the site has deployed correctly!
