Requirements
Before you setup your Touch experiencing there are a few requirements to keep in mind when using a Chrome device:
- You will need to purchase either the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade or Chrome OS Kiosk & Signage Upgrade for your Google Workspace to access kiosk functionality. Purchasing and setup will need to be done by the Gipper workspace owner.
- During the device enrollment process, you can assign these licenses to individual Chromeboxes. Once a license is tied to a device, it cannot be transferred. If the device is replaced or de-provisioned, a new license will need to be assigned to the new device.
Setup Process
In order to display your Touch experience via a Chrome device, you'll need to set up your Gipper Touch site URL as a kiosk app in Chrome device management, which is accessed in the Google Admin Console. Doing so will ensure your Gipper Touch experience is automatically installed on your devices and set to automatically launch and run in kiosk mode. To do so:
- Login to the Google Admin Console
- Click on Devices > Chrome > Apps & Extensions then navigate to the Kiosks tab
- Click on the + button and choose Add by URL
- Enter your Gipper Touch experience URL and click Save
- You should now see an option Auto-launch app above the Gipper Touch app. Directly to the right of this is a drop-down. Click on this and select Gipper. This will set the Gipper app to autostart.
- Now that you’re done, click Save in the top right corner of the window
Enroll the Chromebox into your Google Domain
With Gipper set as a kiosk app for your devices, you can enroll them. You can follow the instructions bellow to enroll chromeOS devices:
Set the Device to Always On
Some models of Chrome OS devices may enter sleep mode. To avoid this, you are able to adjust the power settings in the Google Admin Console to prevent this behavior. To do so, see the Kiosk power settings section of the below article:
Sharing a Photo of your Touchscreen Setup
After all directions have been followed and your site has been deployed to the screen, please send a photo of your setup to support@gogipper.com for the Gipper team to review (if you already have an existing email thread with a Gipper Customer Success rep you can also send the photo there).
- Note: please still send a photo even if you're waiting on other features (wall wraps, shelves, graphics, etc.) in the surrounding area to be completed. We certainly want to see the final product when it's ready, but at this stage we primarily want to confirm the site has deployed correctly!
