Setting up Your Touchscreen with a Windows Device
Gipper Touch is compatible with a variety of touchscreens when using a Windows device. In order to set up your touchscreen to display your Gipper Touch experience while using a Windows device, follow the steps below.
We would highly recommend consulting with your IT department to assist in this process! We'd also recommend having a keyboard on hand to plug into your device via USB-C, to assist with the setup. If you do not have a keyboard, you can turn on an onscreen keyboard via the accessibility window in the system settings.

Configure Kiosk Mode
The fist step in displaying a Gipper Touch experience using a Windows device is to configure an account profile. This account profile allows you to open your Touch experience via the Microsoft Edge browser in a full screen kiosk experience.

To configure Kiosk Mode:
- Open the Start Menu > Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users then locate the Set up a Kiosk section
- Click "Get Started" within the Set up a Kiosk section
- Add a name to create a Kiosk profile (ex: name it "Kiosk")
- Select the Microsoft Edge browser as the app to be used in Kiosk Mode
- When asked about how the kiosk will be used, select the option "as a digital sign or interactive display"
- Set up Microsoft Edge:
- Enter your Gipper Touch URL
- Set the restart setting to "never restart"
- Complete the setup process and close the workflow
- Now there is an account on this device called “Kiosk” that can be used to launch a full screen Gipper Touch Experience
- Note: when you are in Kiosk mode as this user, you can exit by plugging in a keyboard and typing Ctrl + Alt + Del
Turn Off Sleep Settings
To ensure your display does not turn off after periods of inactivity, you'll want to adjust the sleep/standby settings. To do so:
- Open the system settings
- Select System
- Select Power
- Click on Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts
- Change all three options (listed below) to Never
- Turn my screen off after
- Make my device sleep after
- Make my device hibernate after
- Exit out of settings
Disable Edge Swiping
Disabling edge swiping will prevent users from being able to swipe from the edge of the screen to access windows notifications/settings menus, which is important to keep users limited to the Kiosk view and corresponding Touch experience.

Configure Auto Power On
In the event of a power outage or a power cable being unplugged, you want to configure your windows device to automatically power back on after power is restored. To do this, you'll typically need to adjust settings in the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). Specifically, you'll look for options related to power management, such as "Restore on AC/Power Loss" or "After Power Loss", and set them to "Power On".
This can vary by device, so see below for suggestions:
- Enter the BIOS settings of the device (this can vary per device). You can do so by:
- Shutting down the device and powering it back on
- As the device is powering on, press the key associated with accessing the BIOS settings (on some devices this is F2, on others this can be pressing the Delete key repeatedly)
- Once within the BIOS settings, you'll need to find the setting associated with automatically powering on the device. Again, this varies by device. The terms of these settings will be similar to below:
- After Power Loss
- After Power Failure
- AC Power Loss Options
- Restore on AC/Power Loss
- Once you locate the setting, set it to "power on" or "always on"

Sharing a Photo of your Touchscreen Setup
After all directions have been followed and your site has been deployed to the screen, please send a photo of your setup to support@gogipper.com for the Gipper team to review (if you already have an existing email thread with a Gipper Customer Success rep you can also send the photo there).
- Note: please still send a photo even if you're waiting on other features (wall wraps, shelves, graphics, etc.) in the surrounding area to be completed. We certainly want to see the final product when it's ready, but at this stage we primarily want to confirm the site has deployed correctly!
