Prepping your Touchscreen and Elo Backpack
There are a few steps you need to take on your end before establishing the connection between your Gipper Touch experience and your touchscreen. if you have yet to complete the below steps, please pause before moving forward!
- Have you reviewed the Network Requirements and Whitelisting document and shared it with your IT/Tech team?
- Have you sent a photo of your Elo Backpack serial number to support@gogipper.com?
- Has your touchscreen and backpack been mounted or set up in its place of recognition?
- Note: if you have not completed this, you can review the Elo Backpack unboxing and plug in overview here
- Have you plugged in an ethernet cable to your Elo Backpack?
- Note: ethernet is not required to operate but it's highly recommended
Powering on and Setting up Your Touchscreen
Once the Elo Backpack and Touchscreen have been appropriately mounted and plugged in, you can move on to setting up the software and your touchscreen experience.
To set up your software and touchscreen experience:
- Click the power button on your Elo Backpack to power on the device and touchscreen
- If you have not plugged in an ethernet cable you will be prompted to set up wifi. At this stage, connect to your organization's best wifi network
- You should then get to the below "three options" screen. At this point, PAUSE and send an email to Gipper Support using the details in step 4
NOTE: In newer versions of the Elo Backpack, you may not see the screen below. You will likely see a screen that says, "No content configured for this device." You should skip Step 3 and move on to Step 4. You will still need to email our team to deploy content to your touchscreen.
- Email support@gogipper.com with the below message and details (feel free to copy and paste). Please use the exact subject line:
SUBJECT:
[ORG NAME] - Elo Ready for Setup
BODY OF EMAIL:
Hi,
This is [NAME] with [ORG NAME].
We’ve gone through the necessary Elo setup steps and are currently on the three options Elo screen. We are ready to move forward.
- The Gipper team will then work directly with Elo to ensure your device has the latest software and is properly connected to the Gipper account. During this process, we may follow up with you to ask you to perform additional steps to help ensure your device is configured properly. Please do not take any further actions until you hear from us.
Adjust Touchscreen Sleep Settings (only if using an Elo Touchscreen)
To optimize the performance of your Elo touchscreen, you need to adjust some time and energy settings in the touchscreen's On Screen Display (OSD) menu.
You can access the OSD menu via the three buttons on the back right side of the touchscreen. The top button changes the video source (input) and the bottom button is the power-- select the middle button, to access the OSD menu on the screen (shown below).
Once the OSD menu appears, use your finger to touch the screen and select the Time option on the left hand side and disable the toggle next to On/Off Scheduling.
Then, select the Power option on the left hand side and disable the toggle next to Energy Saving Mode.
Note: If the OSD menu ever disappear while you’re doing this you can just click the middle button on the back of the screen to enter the menu again!
Going through the above steps will ensure your display stays on at all times and functions properly. If you would like to to set your device to turn off an on automatically at desired times, please let us know and we can set that up for you remotely through our EloView account.
Sharing a Photo of your Touchscreen Setup
After all directions have been followed and your site has been deployed to the screen, please send a photo of your setup to support@gogipper.com for the Gipper team to review (if you already have an existing email thread with a Gipper Customer Success rep you can also send the photo there).
- Note: please still send a photo even if you're waiting on other features (wall wraps, shelves, graphics, etc.) in the surrounding area to be completed. We certainly want to see the final product when it's ready, but at this stage we primarily want to confirm the site has deployed correctly!
